Overview
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released a short notification for 8,850 vacancies for NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) – including Station Master, Clerk, Ticket Clerk, etc.
These posts are divided into Graduate level and Undergraduate / 12th pass level posts.
The application is to be done online through the RRB portals.

Station Master (Graduate level) has a certain share among graduate posts.
Commercial cum Ticket Clerk is among the 12th pass level posts.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
For Graduate level posts: A full Graduate degree (in any stream or as specified) from a recognized university.
For Undergraduate (12th level) posts: Must have passed 12th / Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent.
Age Limit
For Graduate posts: 18 to 36 years (as a common norm in many sources)
For Undergraduate posts: 18 to 33 years (common reported age cap)
Age relaxations apply for reserved categories as per government / RRB rules (SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-servicemen) (implied in many recruitment notices)
Selection / Exam Pattern
The selection generally involves multiple stages:
CBT – Stage 1 (Computer Based Test)
All candidates must appear in the first stage CBT covering topics like General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, etc. (standard for NTPC)
CBT – Stage 2
Candidates qualifying in Stage 1 move to Stage 2 CBT, more advanced questions, especially in domain / job-relevant area.
Skill / Aptitude / Typing / Aptitude Test (where applicable)
Some posts (like Clerk, Typist) may require a typing skill test in English / Hindi.
Station Master / operations posts may require Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) or other specialized tests.
Document Verification & Medical Exam
After passing the written / skill stages, candidates undergo verification of documents, eligibility, and medical fitness.
Final Merit & Appointment
Based on performance across stages, merit list is prepared and candidates are appointed in Railway zones.
Pay / Salary & Job Grades
The pay / initial basic salary depends on the post and the level (Graduate / Undergraduate).

In addition to basic pay, allowances like Dearness Allowance, HRA, Transport, etc., will be applicable as per the 7th CPC / Railway norms.
